Frequently asked questions Painting New Yorker Leather helmet (N5A)?

So, I have it sanded, I've ordered the paint, and I was wondering, does it really matter what kind of primer i use? I mean, the recommended stuff is like $120, would it really be a big deal if I used automotive primer?

Answer Just be sure that whatever primer you use keeps out the oils that may have been in the leather. Try and find a sealer type primer, something like Kills primer, Kills primer prevents any thing from seeping through the primer like crayons and oils etc.Auto
