The Leland boys and Pioneer girls returned to school this week after spring break with some work yet to do, but their focus was on Blossom Valley Athletic League Mt. Hamilton Division swimming championships.
Entering the last week of dual meet competition, Leland was the only unbeaten boys team in the division at 5-0 and Pioneer (6-0) stood alone at the top of the girls standings.
Leland's boys cleared a big hurdle to repeating as division champions when they handed Pioneer (5-1) its first loss, 115.5-69.5 on April 5 in the Chargers' pool. Meanwhile, the Pioneer girls moved closer to unseating Leland (4-1) as champion with a 106-80 triumph.
Leland was to host Piedmont Hills on April 17 and travel to Evergreen Valley on April 20. Closing the dual meet portion of the season on the same day, Pioneer was set to oppose Live Oak at home.
